Cyber Security Nordic 2024 Preview

Cyber Security Nordic (CSN) gathers cybersecurity speakers worldwide at Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre on 29–30 October. The worldwide top cybersecurity players like Noyb.eu, the U.S. aerospace and defence company Lockheed Martin among others bridging perspectives and exploring critical topics. 

Two days filled with global speakers, Hacker’s Corner challenges, and deep cybersecurity insights along with nearly 50 companies showcasing their expertise in information and cyber security.

Amidst the rapidly evolving cyber landscape, Cyber Security Nordic remains at the forefront of facilitating dynamic discussions and networking opportunities. The event is committed to provide a comprehensive exploration of cybersecurity topics from both business and public administration perspectives.

The agenda encompasses a diverse array of critical subjects including European initiatives towards secure and trustworthy digitalisation, robust strategies for information security, the evolving landscape of cybercrime and law enforcement efforts, the intersection of democracy and cyber politics, strategies for cyberwarfare defence, and the intricate dynamics of geopolitics and cyber diplomacy.

A new feature at Cyber Security Nordic 2024 is the Hacker’s Corner, where hands-on cybersecurity professionals are invited to test their skills in real-world scenarios and compete against each other. Participants will collaborate with leading cybersecurity companies to solve complex security challenges, diving into the mind of a hacker and tackling various puzzles.

Pitch Finland Cyber Security seeks new innovations or services that contribute to the development and growth of the industry and have international potential. The final will take place as a pitching competition at the Cyber Security Nordic event on 29 October 2024, with members of Finnish Business Angels Network, FiBAN, invited to attend. A company or organisation registered in Finland will be awarded a €10,000 prize, donated by the Finnish Fair Foundation.

The event is aimed at cyber security professionals, business management and experts responsible for information security, IT and communications.

Cyber Security Nordic 2024 features two distinct stages, each designed to deliver a wealth of knowledge and insights.

Stage One, the main venue, boasts the largest LED setup in Finland for a conference, spanning 23 metres in width and covering over 100 square metres. This impressive setting will host keynote presentations from strategic partners like Accenture, Fitsec, Cyberday, HP Finland, Microsoft, Nixu, Trend Micro, NetNordic, and Vectra, along with other international experts.

The Gold Stage will offer a broader range of talks addressing various aspects of information security, providing attendees with practical, technical, and strategic knowledge across multiple disciplines.

Among the headline speakers are:

Max Schrems, a renowned privacy advocate and representative of Noyb– European Center for Digital Rights, will be among the notable speakers also in CSN 24. Schrems gained international recognition for his groundbreaking campaigns against Facebook (Meta), exposing privacy violations, including violations of European privacy laws. Noyb.eu has also recently filed a complaint against OpenAI with the Austrian DPA and is going to challenge the third attempt of EU-US data transfers agreement.

Prof. William H. Dutton, Martin Fellow at Oxford University’s Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre is among the most interesting Keynote speakers. He was the founding director of the OII, the first Professor of Internet Studies at Oxford University, and an Emeritus Professor at the University of Southern California. His most recent book is The Fifth Estate: The Power Shift of the Digital Age (OUP 2023). 

Mr. Monteith representing the US Lockheed Martinhas 20+ years Cyber Security Architecture and Engineering experience in the Aerospace and Defence industry.  Mr. Monteith has led enterprise initiatives in collaboration with, or in support of, Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers, US and foreign government customers, partners, and suppliers, to develop, deploy and sustain IT and cyber solutions incorporating the full stack of information technology domains.
