Ctrl+Alt+Truth. Welcome to the future of cybercrime

Kimmo Vesajoki, Country Manager, Finland & Baltics, TrendMicro

One of highlights of this year’s Cyber Security Nordic event is Rik Ferguson’s keynote: “Project 2030: Scenarios for the future of cybercrime”. Based on a recent Trend Micro Research report of the same name, the keynote will give the audience a sneak-peak into the future of cybercrime.

We tend to be laser focused on the here and now—particularly when we are living through major world events. But we can’t let our present focus detract from anticipating how technology will impact our future. Only by carefully calculating future scenarios can the cybersecurity community prepare to protect it. Trend Micro has taken a futurist view of technology, and its associated cyber threats, that might influence and evolve the world by the year 2030.

Project 2030 aims to give individuals, enterprises, and even nations a reasoned and rational indication of a possible future, enabling them to devise more nuanced long-term strategic directions. The scenarios that it has created are wide-ranging and diverse, so much so that we could not reasonably expect to predict the future of one single real-world nation. Instead, we have set all predictions in the fictional nation-state of New San Joban. This gives us the scope to bring all our possible futures together in one place.

Who would be better to deliver this point of view than Trend Micro’s Vice President of Security Research, Rik Ferguson, who spearheaded the Project 2030?

Are you ready? Mark your calendars to hear Rik’s keynote at 2.45pm on 13 May. If you’re not able to attend the event in person, make sure to subscribe to the live stream (earlybird prices available until 1st May).

As you may already know, we have also created a video series of Project 2030 and all 9 episodes are available online. See the future of cybersecurity and watch the video series here!
